Mum Day and Garden Progress

This week, I am thankful for the sunshine and a few showers. We could use a few more showers, but in the meantime we are able to water as needed. We have to work with the weather we get and improvise as we go along.

We have had several projects going on this week at the Farm. We had a big day last Friday, as our shipment of Fall Mums came in. Our volunteer crew potted 617 mums in about 6 hours through wind, rain and storms. We had a good time despite the hard work. The mums are all in pots near the main garden spot and are quite a sight to see. They will be ready for purchase in mid-September.

This week, we also planted pumpkins, gourds and more corn. Isn’t it crazy to be thinking of fall when it is 90 degrees outside? The tomato and pepper plants already have a few tomatoes and peppers growing on them. The potato plants are flowering and we will have potatoes very soon. The carrots are almost ready, too. I can’t wait!
